Isn't possible to do such operation, because no sdk command for it, no matter if is Canon or Nikon

Unfortunately support p&s cameras it is very limited because manufacturers don't implement in the camera firmware function which is support camera control from pc.
Anyway you can send a email with your requests at admin [at] digicamcontrol.com

A API exist but no documentation unfortunately, but there a example app and the source code of the main application.

Can you check if the live view isn't in movie mode ? For some camera there is a switch to change live view mode between capture/record video or there is a option in camera menu for live view aspect ratio

Which version of the application do you use ? Can you post a screenshot ?

When the live view is started can you check the focus mode, should't be in AF-F mode
