Scripting for product photography: Where to start?

Post by FlexibleSteve » Fri May 06, 2016 8:50 pm

Hello all.

I have come across this wonderful software and am attempting to create an automated process for product photography.

I would like create a script that would:
- When the script is started prompt the user to enter a SessionName (user inputs product name)
- Create a new session and folder with the product name
- Take a series of 24 images, 5 seconds apart
- Resize the images and save them sequentially ( SessionName_01 - SessionName_24)
- Ends

In the future I would like to replace the loop command for taking the 24 pictures with a serial trigger. That way I can synchronize the rotation of a motor with the trigger of the capture.

Where should I start with scripting? Are there a bunch of example scripts I can check out? I'm not sure what Tcl is or if XML is the best path for me.

Thanks for any help.

The scripting isn't that flexible to query external data from user. But this can be managed without using scripting. You should use the timelapse feature for automatically take the 24 photos, you can use Capture name for product name and transform auto export plugin for resize de image

Hello..
That doesn't mean you're going… to have everything turn out precisely… how you figured it would on paper… especially in the case, you're working with genuine individuals on camera.… But in any event, it gives you some sort of guidepost.
