Nikon D5500 Wifi

Post by tdwyer » Wed Nov 16, 2016 11:09 pm

Hoping someone can help out.

I just purchased a Nikon D5500 and downloaded the DCC software. From what I'm reading it looks like I should be able to control my camera wirelessly using the camera's internal Wifi, but I can't get it to work. I'm using a PC with Win 7 on it, and can see and connect to the camera via normal wireless connection (like connecting to a wifi router), but when i open the DCC software it doesn't see the camera. I click on the wifi symbol within the DCC software and have tried telling it to connect with either of the default options (WU-1a or the dashboardserver) and both fail. Am I missing something?

Thanks,

Todd

Based on log file the application can't connect to the camera because no network connection exist to the specified ip number, so or the server ip number is different or the wifi connection with the camera was disconnected.
I don't have a camera with build in wifi so i can test if the suggested ip number is correct or not. You can check in the network connection the default gateway ip number should be the server ip.

Duka,

Thanks for helping me out with this. I was thinking about why this wouldn't be working (prior to reading your post) and realized it may be an issue with already having this PC connected to the rest of my network via ethernet. I'm assuming this is an issue with the PC already being assigned an IP from the DHCP server on my main network. I disconnected from my ethernet, then connected via wifi to the camera, and then opened DCC and made the connection there. Everything works that way. Now all I have to do is figure out how I can still be connected to my ethernet network and a separate wifi connection at the same time.
