Framerate when using dSLR as webcam

Post by pixelwiz » Mon Oct 16, 2017 5:53 pm

Hi,

So first of all, thanks for this amazing software, it's really useful. A while back I discovered the ability to use my Nikon D5500 as a webcam using digiCamControl. However, people I skype/video call with say that the frame rate seems laggy. The picture is beautiful, but it doesn't seem to be refreshing at 30 fps or maybe not even 15, so the video looks jumpy. Is there any way to address that problem to make the video smoother?

Thanks,
-Roman

Not really can't do anything, you can check in live view option the No Processing checkbox this may help a lite bit

Hi !
I am trying to use my Nikon D5100 as a webcamera with Live View 720p, but it doesn't work at all!
Of cause I checked a Webserver option..
I installed one of the previous versions, 2.0.72, and it had been working, but it was running with low fps.
2.0.76 and newest 2.1.0 can not create Virtual Webcamera on Windows 8.1 and 10.

How can I or someone else fix it? Should I use old version?..

This feature was removed from version 2.0.76 because virtually was unusable

I appreciate your fast answer, but could I ask you to clarify it. Is it possible to use Nikon D5100 USB + Digicamcontrol + OBS Studio as a source of video? Any suggestions would be valuable.
