Laptop Capture While in Separate Capture Software

Hello, I use digiCamControl as a capture software into a separate data/image database software via the laptop's hotfolder. Is it possible to trigger the camera's shutter via a laptop keystroke when digiCamControl is not the on-screen software? I always need the database software on screen while digiCam is minimized in the background. I seem to be unable to trigger the shutter from the laptop, unless digiCam is on-screen. Thank you for your help and software!!

Go to File->Settings->Triggers search the capture line set the desired key combination and check the global checkbox in this way no longer required the application to be active
You can do more advanced automation using remote utility http://digicamcontrol.com/doc/userguide/remoteutil
