DCC Server

Post by Wolsley » Mon Sep 07, 2015 5:32 pm

I am an astrophotographer and I have written a program which monitors Digicamcontrol, as well as PHD Guiding.  I was able to monitor the Digicamcontrol log file to determine when a capture was in progress and where the resulting photo was stored on disk.  In the latest 1.3.30.0 release of DCC I notice that the log file contents have been changed significantly.  Specifically it is no longer possible to determine the filename or location on disk...every photo is called DSC_0000.JPG which is incorrect and there is no longer any indication of what folder is being used. What would be useful to me, and maybe others, would be a DCC server that I could connect to which would tell me when a capture is occuring and when a file is created what it's fully qualified filename is. There may be a way of doing this already using the DSLRDASHBOARD or Webserver.  If so I would appreciate some information as to how this would be done.Alternatively you could consider making some improvements to the logfile logic in DCC.Many thanksPeter

Duka, I was doing a timelapse session using my telescope and I thought I could benefit from a new property added to the DCC webserver. Could you add a property called camera.exposure It would be a read-only property. It would be the displayed exposure meter value. When I use my telescope I have to use manual mode because my camera does not understand what “lens” I am using. This means I have no access to any auto-exposure modes. If I could get access to the displayed exposure value, I could write a program that would control the shutter speed or ISO to keep the exposure reasonable. I used DCC to create a timelapse movie of the recent lunar eclipse. I took photos every 30 seconds. Because of the constantly changing cloud cover I had to adjust shutter speed and ISO frequently. I could have automated this if I had access to a camera.exposure property.
