Camera Compatability

Post by justforfun » Sat Nov 26, 2016 9:17 pm

Hello:

I own three Nikon cameras, D70, D300, D90.

Can any of these be used with the Astronomy function in Digicamcontrol program?

I tried with the D90 and get something like bulb not supported.

Is it me or just not compatable?

Thanks

Roy Simpson

Nikon's D90 and D5100 do not support bulb while tethered - I think this may be the same with the D70, though Nikon didn't document it there. The D300 supports it and therefore should work, though.

Thanks

Could not find that.

I have ordered the parts to make a USB to 8 pin connector. That should take care of that, for the D90.

Thanks again

Many of the Nikon series cameras are not supported by DidgiCamControl I found out. I have a D3300 in which everything works in the beta version of DigiCamControl EXCEPT for BULB function. For that you need to purchase the DSUSB adapter and shutter release cable for for Nikon from Shoestring Astronomy in order for the BULB function to work while in the Astronomy module. Now everything works and have done several tests with it.
