Canon Powershot S3IS support

Post by monitor » Tue Feb 14, 2017 6:01 am

Just found digicamcontrol and wanted to try it with a older Canon Powershot 3SIS sitting around ;-)
Got the current software version - 2.0.69.0 - for this camera.
About the only function that seems implemented/functional is that for triggering a single shot and that seems to work.
Now the big question for me is:
Is this the full extent of what is possible with this camera version or is there other functionality which is simply not implemented - yet?
TIA

For non DSLR cameras the application use the windows WIA driver which have very limited possibilities. To add more functionality required a documentation about supported MTP/PTP commands but i think such documentation not exist.

Thank you for the feedback.
For now, just being able to trigger a capture will do.
But I guess this will be another project to add to my list of things to check out. :-)

FWIW, I found an old copy of the Canon ZoomBrowserEX ( 6.1.1) which gives me considerable control over the features of the camera.
Some of the more recent versions seem to have lost that functionality.
All I now need is a good way to monitor the USB traffic with a good filter.
USBCap does not seem very helpful in this regard.

Hi,
I have Canon Powershot S5 IS. When I attach camera, It opens with default software provided within the box "CameraWindow". Could you send Canon ZoomBrowserEX or post its link? I cant find software. I want to try to my old Camera for remote video recording.
Thanks

I doubt my old software is still around, but one link I have found: https://www.filecroco.com/download-zoombrowser-ex/
It is a different version, but maybe it will work
Also there is: https://zoombrowser-ex.informer.com/6.1/

good luck

I really appreciate your help. Is it possible to capture video (it is not mater record in camera then download to PC) via any software?
