multiple cameras

hello
for developping a 3D scan camera studio : how many cameras can be added to digicam control ? Now it works with five cameras, but i would like to go to 20 or 24 cameras? this answer is important before I go buying extra cameras.

In the application isn't any limit for connected cameras only the hardware can limit it like a usb hub can accept maximum 127 cameras.
The most connected cameras which i know is around 81 camera.
