General question about new camera support

Post by DogNewTrix » Mon Jun 27, 2016 10:08 pm

Is there a rough rule of thumb on the time needed to add support for a new camera model after that model is introduced? I am not familiar with the technical details involved in adding new models, and I imagine there are several factors. In particular, the Nikon D500 (and there may be interest around the D5 from others)? Many thanks. (I tried searching for this, but 90% of my search terms were ignored as "too common.")

Hi try this version https://s3.amazonaws.com/download.digic ... 0.44.0.exe in this version the D500 and D5 are supported but isn't tested.

For Nikon it is easy to add new model, just the coded required to be recompiled but in most cases i can't test it ....

Just tried the version you mentioned on my new D500
Did not test all functions yet, but for now :
- Triggering the camera works
- Changing exposure compensation : works
-Triggering just AF : Works
- Choosing a differnt Af- point (using single poit AF) does not really work for me, when chhoosing a differnt focus point the old setting does not change
- Showing 1 sec preview of picture : Works

Will be trying other funtions soon and report back when i can.. :-)

Thank you, Duka! I downloaded 2.0.44.0 and worked with it a bit on my D500.
- I can confirm that Simple focus stacking works, with some possible initialization errors (?) in the behavior of the manual stepping arrows at the bottom of the LV window. They went away after reversing direction on "near to far" drop down.

I also noticed some errors with enumerants in the dropdown boxes for the camera settings. (For example, an enumerant of "32784" for "Metering mode.") I would be willing to do a visual inspection of the relevant .cs files against my D500's menus to see what else I might find, if that is useful. I noticed that the software seems to "layer" the class definitions, so I would need all the parent class .cs files that are in the D500 genealogy. (Again, this was build ...44..., so maybe these were all resolved in build ...45...)

Hi,
Just of pure curiosity, are you planning to add support for Pentax cameras in future versions (for the more professional line, at least)?
Thanks in advance.

If you are located in Budapest, I can lend you a few. I have access to a large variety of Pentax cameras. I pretty sure the Hungarian Pentax community will appreciate your work.
