Can the quality of the liveview be improved?

Post by Martin Hoppe » Tue Nov 08, 2022 12:18 am

Hello and thanks for reading.

I wonder if the quality of the liveview can somehow be improved?

What are the limitations here, is it the screen of the camera that's connected? Or the camera itself somehow? Or the usb connection? Can the quality somehow be chosen?

I'm asking because the liveview from my Nikon D7500 is quite bad and I need to have the best possible for my tabletop studio.

Thanks a lot! Martin

Nothing can be done, this is coded in camera firmware even for high-end camera models. I get some reports when the camera recording video then the live view quality is same as video quality, but i can't confirm this

Thanks for your reply.

One more question regarding liveview: I had two different Nikon models running at digicamcontrol, both relatively new models. Now I have one really old Canon and another one, not that old.

The much newer Nikons had a much worse preview quality than the older Canons. Does anyone have any experience, if this is a rule? Canon better than Nikon?

Thanks!
