Zoom Locks After Capture Nikon D5500

Greetings group. I use Digicam feathered to a Nikon D5500 for focusing the camera on the planets and moon. Using Live View in Digicam, I Zoom in as far as it will go then focus the camera on the finer detail. (The green square is visible during the process). After capturing the photo, zoom will not reactivate for the next shot although Live View is still functioning. I’m forced to power cycle the camera, and/or the program before the green square reappears and Zoom functions again. The camera does have the latest firmware and I’m writing only to the camera. Am I missing something? Thanks in advance.
