How to get started with remote control bulb mode

Post by HenryInUtah » Sun Jan 15, 2023 2:03 am

Hello,
I have used CameraContolCmd.exe successfully to take "typical" exposures like 1/20, f8, ISO 400 with the camera (Canon 6D) set in manual mode. This seems to work great.

How do I use CameraContolCmd.exe for a long exposure with the camera set in bulb mode? For example: f4, ISO 400, 5 minutes. It seems like there is a depreciated script command <bulbcapture capturetime="10" iso="100"/> that looks like it would work, but it doesn't seem like a good idea to use "old" commands. Also, I don't understand how to run a script with CameraContolCmd.exe even if I could create it.

Lastly, the "device" that I am putting together uses a small Windows computer with a small 720px screen, so I have to do everything with a separate Python program. I suppose that DCC could run minimized? I am not sure what my best option is right now - I am stuck getting started.

Thank you for your time.
